Intake and Assessment

Intake and Assessment

Our Intake and Assessment Team is the first point of contact for anyone concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child or youth. Guided by the Ontario Child Welfare Eligibility Spectrum (2024), our team responds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Approach

  • Anyone can call. We welcome calls from caregivers, youth, professionals, and community members. Reports can be made by phone, email, or in person.
  • Assessment and support. Intake workers gather information to assess risk, determine next steps, and identify how to best support the family.
  • Tailored responses. Our approach may include safety planning, community referrals, voluntary family support, or, when necessary, protection interventions.

We recognize that families are experts in their own lives. Our goal is to work in partnership with them to ensure children and youth are safe, supported, and connected to their families, cultures, and communities.
